Topic:On Axiomatic Unifications of Solutions to the Bargaining Problem and Applications

Abstract:

Bargaining is a fundamental aspect of social and economic interactions.The Nash axiomatic bargaining theorystands as a cornerstone paradigm in gametheory,inspiringavastliterature on axiomatic solutions and their practicalapplications.Prominentsolutions,such as theNash,Kalai-Smorodinskv,egalitarian,andproportionalsolutions,eachderivefrom a distinct set ofaxioms.Weestablish two distinct systems ofaxioms,eachleading to a unified bargainingsolution.Thecomprehensivesolution menus axiomatized in this paper contribute to a richer set of tools for analyzing and addressing real-world bargainingsituations.

Chengzhong Qin,a tenured professor of economics at the University ofCalifornia,SantaBarbara,isa world-renowned Chinese economist whose research interests include industrialeconomics,gametheory and informationeconomics.Hehas published more than 40 papers in top international Economic journals such as Journal of Economic Theory and Games and EconomicBehavior,andactedas an anonymous reviewer for top international journals,such asAmericanEconomicReview,Econometrica,Journalof EconomicTheorv,InternationalEconomicReview,istheeditorial board member of EconomicTheory,EconomicTheory Bulletin and Frontiers of Economics in China.
